Rachel Milner Gillers

Rachel Milner Gillers is Director of the Georgetown Conflict Transformation Lab (CTL) and Associate Professor of the Practice in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at Georgetown’s Law Center and McCourt School of Public Policy. She has created and delivered workshops in negotiation, mediation, and conflict management for diverse clients that include Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, Bridgestone, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the United Nations.

Rachel’s areas of  interest and expertise include international development, women and negotiation, and commercial negotiations.  She has assisted the International Monetary Fund with conflict resolution capacity building for managers in both domestic and foreign mission contexts, and has led complex multi-stakeholder consensus building processes, including the U.S. Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, a cross-sector effort driven by representatives from industry, government, and civil society.

She teaches negotiation at Georgetown’s Law Center and McCourt School of Public Policy and has trained mediators and negotiators at the Harvard Mediation Program and the Harvard Negotiation Institute.

Rachel holds joint Master’s degrees from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and Harvard Divinity School, where she focused on international negotiation and conflict resolution. A native of the Washington, D.C. area, she has lived in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
