Virtual Programs

Even before Covid we were global leaders in delivering blended action learning programs that don’t require long hours in live video sessions. For teams of up to 12, we offer customizable 4-6 week courses. Our modular, expert teaching videos integrate brief lectures with animated explainer segments. After viewing, participants complete scored quizzes and complete relevant reflection and application assignments. In one-hour capstone sessions each week, expert instructors answer questions and consolidate insights.

Our negotiation programs can be tailored for commercial or health care/market access contexts. Our programs on managing conflict will be useful for colleagues who don’t think of themselves as “negotiators” (i.e., leaders or managers who must manage conflict or solve real-time problems within or across organizations).

Time required: 2-3 hours weekly offline learning / assignments; one-hour weekly webinar (live).

Onsite Programs

Drawing on 30 years’ experience and a large library of materials, we offer customized, engaging onsite programs that disrupt mindsets, foster insight, improve communication, and help negotiators to avoid emotional and conversational traps.

One-Day and Multi-Day Custom Programs

Our programs are fun, challenging, and tailored to the needs of each audience. We help individuals and teams to

Poise Under Pressure™ Program

Available only from Movius Consulting, and led by Dr. Jim Coan and Dr. Hal Movius, this workshop shares groundbreaking insights and techniques on how to avoid “conversational traps” that can hinder or hijack negotiations. Drawing on research that can predict with 94% accuracy which relationships will fail, you will discover your unique emotional tendencies by completing Movius Emotion Profiler.™ Then, you will learn how to use the Emotional RADAR™ coding system to recognize and interrupt emotional behaviors that help, hinder, and hijack negotiations and challenging conversations.

Train-the-Trainer Programs

For a skillset as complex as negotiation, train-the-trainer programs are often a wasted investment. They work best for organizations with a committed senior sponsor, sufficient budget, experienced in-house trainers, and learners operating in similar function (e.g., sales, purchasing, marketing,) or context (e.g., market or product line). For clients with this profile, we provide customized programs and materials, then teach trainers how to run the programs effectively using a watch-collaborate-teach approach. (When organizations lack either experienced trainers or consistent learner profiles, we typically suggest other ways to scale new concepts, tools and behaviors.)

Customized Teaching Films

Teaching Films are a powerful resource for in-house trainers. We partner successfully with a world-class filmmakers, writers and actors, and can help you to create a film or film series that will make your training programs more memorable.  Our clients have commissioned us to create films (ranging in length from 2-25 minutes) that show realistic scenes and stories from their operating context. Showing both helpful and unhelpful tactics, these films provoke high-spirited discussion and debate, and bring interpersonal communication challenges to life. See examples here and here.

Customized Negotiation Simulations 

Based on careful interviews, we create scorable, interactive games that capture a group’s current negotiation and influence challenges. Each simulation includes guide that explains how to run and debrief the exercise. We also license existing simulations to clients, and can build one more that focus on your team’s context and challenges. 

Customized Toolkits and Resource Guides

Our customized toolkits and resource guides help negotiators in particular operating contexts to prepare and rehearse more effectively. Equally important, they provide a shared platformed for negotiators, stakeholders and decision makers to work together on limits, aspirations, interests, alternatives, offers, trades, setup-moves, and next steps. We’ve produced user tools as short as one page and as long as twenty (for complex multi-year commercial challenges). In all cases we seek to promote evidence-based best practices for strengthening both strategy and tactics — while striving for ease-of-use. Our most effective clients not only use tools to prepare — but to assess preparation and performance afterward.
