Jacob Slichter helps individuals to gain greater clarity, confidence, and creativity, supporting individuals who are navigating conflict, career changes, health challenges, and high-stakes creative projects. As a consultant, he has advised business leaders, startup companies, writers, and artists.  As a performance coach, he helps individuals and groups to communicate, collaborate, and engage audiences more effectively.  Across all of his work a central theme is identifying and drawing on hidden strengths.

Slichter draws in part on his background as an artist, collaborator and performer.  As drummer for the Minneapolis band Semisonic, Slichter earned Platinum and Gold records in the US, UK, and Canada.  He has performed in major venues around the world and appeared on The Late Show with David LettermanThe Tonight Show with Jay LenoLate Night with Conan O’Brien, and Howard Stern. He has been interviewed on CNN, ABC, and WNYC.

As a writer, Slichter has contributed to the New York Times and NPR’s Morning Edition.  He is author of the acclaimed book So You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star, a humorous memoir of his ascent to rock stardom that has been widely recognized as one of the best books ever written on the music industry.

A gifted teacher and communicator, Slichter teaches writing at Sarah Lawrence College and has previously taught and lectured at Princeton, Villanova, Smith College, Northeastern, Rutgers, and the UNC Wilmington, Indiana University, and DePaul.

He has a B.A from Harvard College and lives in New York City.
