Dr. David Ferguson is founder and director of Pacisco Consulting, a consultancy providing customized negotiation training and coaching, negotiation consultancy, and assistance in the resolution of commercial disputes. David brings broad experience – across industries and geographies – to his work with clients in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

David’s long and varied background in international marketing includes ten years as New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner for Japan and Korea. As Commissioner he led a team that provided export consulting services to companies in diverse industries, including food and wine; software; aircrew leasing; film location. In 2001 he visited North Korea as part of a New Zealand delegation for the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Previously, as head of sales for an Anglo-American business unit in Singapore, he led quarterly supply negotiations with major steel mills groups across Europe, US, India, China, Japan and Korea, with multi-billion dollar sales accountability.

He also worked as a marketing executive for multinationals including HJ Heinz (now Kraft Heinz), where he negotiated with large Asian retail groups.

After completing the Negotiation Master Class at Harvard Law School, David earned his DBA (doctor of business administration) degree from the Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy, Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. His research there investigated the roles and influence of players outside the room in negotiations, reflecting an interest in negotiation group dynamics, and in the steps that organizations can take to ensure their negotiators are successful.

He lives in New Zealand.
