Andrew Lee is President of the Leading Negotiation Institute (LNI). A Fellow of Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation and Stanford Law School’s Gould Center for Conflict Resolution, he has led workshops on negotiation across Greater China and also on business negotiations with Chinese counterparts in the United States, Singapore, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Japan and Korea. He has worked with the Chinese Ministry of Justice training court officials and lawyers. In 2011, he was appointed a World Bank mediator for Greater Asia.
Based in Shanghai and Beijing, LNI delivers corporate consulting programs to overseas organizations seeking better negotiation results in the Chinese market; works with Chinese government institutions in developing more efficient dispute management systems; and partners with Chinese business, law and public policy schools to help their scholars and practitioners exchange knowledge with overseas counterparts.
Mr. Lee has published a series of articles and books on negotiation and dispute resolution in both English and Mandarin, including the Mandarin version of Breaking Robert’s Rules (with Professor Lawrence Susskind of MIT) and Rethinking Negotiation Teaching: Innovations for Context and Culture (published by Hamline University DRI Press).
Prior to his present role in consulting and training, he practiced law for eight years in Australia, Hong Kong, the Netherlands and Switzerland in the fields of commercial arbitration, corporate and criminal law.
Born in Australia, he first arrived on China’s shores 28 years ago. He holds first class honours degrees in Law from the University of Sydney and in Psychology from the University of Adelaide. He also holds a Masters in Chinese Law from Peking University. He speaks English and Mandarin.
